My daughter has frequent visits to the hospital and we play this CD to break up the silence, especially at night, but also during the day. The hospital staff LOVES it! Of course, we do as well. It's amazing to hear so many people comment on how calming & beautiful they think the music is. We LOVE it!

If you have had one of those hectic days and busy doesn't even begin to describe what your day was like, walk in your door, kick off your shoes and put in, "Abide With Me", by Phillip Keveren and this beautiful music will calm you and help you find solace as you worship the King of kings. Here we have, Phillip Keveren, playing the piano throughout this entire CD. There are fifteen wonderfully created worship songs for you to enjoy. I can tell you, I have not been a huge fan of classical music, but Discovery House has opened my eyes up to all whole new appriciation of this music. It is not only calming, but takes us to a quiet place with the Lord. All the craziness of the day seems to leave as you put in this Cd. I immediately thought this would be a wonderful wedding Cd for that magical day. This Cd begins with, "A New Hallelujah", and ends with, "For the Beauty of the Earth". One of my favorites is, "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty". Simply beautiful and inspiring. This will be one I play softly when the day has ended and all is quiet as I sit to write. This CD was a gift from Discovery House Music for it's review.

Phillip Keveren celebrates his 50th birthday this year and wanted to create an arrangement that reflected music that had inspired him throughout the years. In his words, "All of this music is united by three factors: it flows from the sonic canvas of solo piano, it comes from my fingers and heart, and all these songs are expressions of reverence of our sovereign God." A classically trained pianist, Keveren has done a wonderful job creating a beautiful, reverent masterpiece of a CD: Abide with Me: Piano & Praise. I loved how soothing the music was and how beautifully it all came together. I love that I can just turn it on and that we can go about our daily routine, the CD putting everyone in a better, calmer mood. I also love that I can focus on the CD and sing along with the praise melodies. A concoction of familiar songs, both old and new - such as "A New Hallelujah", "Here I am to Worship", and "Be Thou My Vision". I thought the piano playing itself was beautiful and I could definitely hear the classical influences. I would highly recommend this song if you are a fan of piano music and are looking for a new selection for your music library. I would also recommend it to anyone looking to sit at the feet of their King and enjoy His gift of music. Available through Discovery House. I would describe this solo piano CD as mostly peaceful and mellow, with definite jazz influences. There are lots of familiar songs on here (mostly hymns with a few modern worship songs), but Philip Keveren’s arrangements are creative and unpredictable, in a good way. He plays confidently and yet with great sensitivity. My personal favorite songs on Abide with Me are “For the Beauty of the Earth,” for its intriguing harmonies; “A New Hallelujah,” for the amazingly beautiful way Keveren interprets the song’s chorus; and “We Gather Together,” for the ethereal way he weaves the melody in among a series of very interesting chord progressions. This is the kind of music I like to have playing as background music in my house throughout the day, or while driving. I put it on the other day when our church fellowship group met at our house and several people commented on how pretty the music was. Disclosure: I received a free copy of this CD from Discovery House Music. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
